MSNBC contributor drops hammer on GOP -- the party of 'sexual assault and mistreatment of women'

She started out fine but the last paragraph makes it seems like the GOP only has an image-messaging problem!! The problems are real!!

MSNBC contributor drops hammer on GOP — the party of ‘sexual assault and mistreatment of women’

A White House correspondent said the Republican Party has become associated with rape and abuse of women — and Brett Kavanaugh is making that even more clear.
..............................

“The Republicans have an incentive to want to clear Brett Kavanaugh’s name,
not only because he’s going to be on the Supreme Court for a lifetime appointment, but also because their party has become connected with sexual assault and the mistreatment of women,” Alcindor said.

That association started at the top, with President Donald Trump, she said.

“You have to go back and think about the fact the president himself stands accused by several women of sexual abuse,” Alcindor said. “You have the (‘Access Hollywood’) tape where he’s referring to women’s body parts in a derogatory way.”

.........................................

“The point is that the Republicans have a messaging problem, an image problem,” Alcindor said. “As we look at the future of the party more and more women will be voting, more and more women are galvanized to take it to the polls, and Republicans really need to get it together in terms of wondering whether or not they can hold on to younger women and suburban women.”

women. The image is one that they've created with their abysmal lack of understanding, caring, nurturing and support for, as well as their flat out attacks on, women and the causes/issues that are important to us.

Look out Red, the Blue wave IS coming and a 'PINK' tsunami is leading the way.

Sexual abuse is just one leg of the culture. Money in politics is another, aided by the Supreme Court. It can't be fixed by messaging. It can only be purged.

Yesterday, there were reports that they are losing the attention of voters over 50. They have flat out admitted that they are willing to touch the third rail, and seniors, or about to be seniors, ain't having it.

They are self-immolating.

republican politicians on television, it is clear that they are the party of older white men. Now and then, they throw a token woman in there like Cathy McMorris Rodgers, who rarely speaks. I remember republican senators using Kelly Ayotte a lot for that role when she was in the senate. Lately I don't even see the token women standing behind these men. So very, very white and male.

Suggesting that the 11 old white men on the Senate Judiciary Committee might be part of the problem. Someone I don't know chimed in that there were only nine Republicans on the committee, which I thought was an attempt to derail the thread. I responded to the "only nine" post with a link to the Committee's web page and suggested that he send the Committee a correction, because the Committee's own web page lists 11 old white male Republicans:

https://www.judiciary.senate.gov/about/members

No reply. I'll post my shocked face when I wake up. Wait, that IS my shocked face.

Also of note, of the 10 Democrats on the Committee, four of them are women. Think that might have an effect on caucus meetings?

are also racially diverse as well.

Lately it seems that republicans in congress aren't even trying to pretend they are diverse and inclusive. I think it is because they are desperately trying to appeal to their core Trump-loving base. Could they possibly move backwards any faster? Pretty soon we'll be reliving the 1950s.

that recommended the GOP needed to become more diverse if it was to continue as a viable party. The GOP looked at it and said "Nah".

Unless I'm misunderstanding, the problem isn't that he called a vagina a pussy, it's that he was saying he felt he was allowed to grab one whenever he wanted.

Or am I wrong about that?

Trump's entitlement is more than any of us can stand. Throw in his constant lying, corruption, collusion, and generally bad character flaws, and now even some Republicans are finally walking away. Only co-conspirators and self-deluded people are staying by him now.

It's just a matter of time.
