The North American Indian by Edward S Curtis - in pictures

A stunning record of vanishing Native American tribes, one of the earliest complete versions of Curtisís early 20th-century work, will be offered for auction in its original binding by Swann Auction Galleries in New York on 18 October, with an estimate of $1m-$1.5m

1. This is an amazing piece of work

Back in the 1970s when working at FSU's Strozier Library, re-shelving books, I found their copy of it and spent a few of my working hours going through it.
