An Anchorage grand jury indicted Justin Schneider, 34, on four felony charges including kidnapping and assault, and one misdemeanor count of Harassment I--offensive contact with fluids -- for the August 2017 incident.
Schneider struck a deal with the state, pleading guilty to a single felony assault charge in exchange for a sentence of two years with one suspended. Schneider faces no additional jail time. He received credit for time served while wearing an ankle monitor and living with his family.

"I hope it doesn't happen," Grannik said. "That's the reason why I made the deal that I've made, because I have reasonable expectations that it will not happen. But I would like the gentleman to be on notice that that is his one pass -- it's not really a pass -- but given the conduct, one might consider that it is."

(9,081 posts)The irresponsibility of this verdict or plea or whatever is maddening.
This is the behavior of a serial rapist/killer. The disregard for the victim and women is stunning!!
Disgusting. That judge needs to go.

(81,592 posts)Schneider was originally indicted on kidnapping and assault charges. In a press release issued by the state on Aug. 16, 2017, prosecutors said Schneider could have faced up to 99 years in prison for the kidnapping charge.
At Wednesdays hearing, Schneider thanked the court for the process and said the experience has been a positive one for he and his family.

I'm sputtering.
And some people wonder why women are angry.

Dahmer, Gacy, Eyler. To name a few locals here in Chicago that come to mind.
In every case you wonder, gee why were they even out on the streets.

Still a pretty terrible story. What's wrong with people.
