(14,624 posts)acceptance of the Anonymous op-ed that set off the "who wrote it?" firestorm. I
It makes me think that the op-ed was a tRump plant designed to soften them up, and at the same time, give the WH an excuse to fire anyone on the suspect list.
Starting to see a pattern here. Denigrating the NYT as fake news while, at the same time exploiting them

(6,212 posts)but something like this is the kind of crap trump and junior would be involved in. It is trumps obsession to have Rosenstein gone.

(2,795 posts)I don't want any news source to not report legitimate information. But these journalists are chasing some Woodword/Bernstein fame that they are willing to do so at the cost of this country's democracy. He just gave Trump what he needs to justify firing Rosenstein. Did this fame chaser not realize it? Maybe think outside of the chase for glory and wonder what is the reason this info came to you. Why would this information come to you? Who benefits from this information. So the NYT is being used to help Trump. If they don't see that because they want to be the first and break the bombshell, then they are reckless.

They should be embarrassed, and if they're going to pull this shit, they should lose subscribers by the millions.

(55,525 posts)If ROSENSTEIN is fired PROTESTS in 900+ cities...RESIST!
No One Is Above The Law has been organized since last Dec. and 1/2 million people have signed up already to protest the fake prez within hours of an announcement. Check the link and see if an event is near you.

Donald Trump could be preparing to put himself above the law. We wont allow it.
Trump will create a constitutional crisis if he fires special counsel Robert Mueller or Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein, who oversees Mueller, or attempts to compromise the investigation by other means. (See The Plan for details.)
Our response in the hours following a potential power grab will dictate what happens nextwhether Congress will stand up to Trump or allow him to move our democracy toward authoritarianism.
That's why we're preparing to hold emergency "Nobody Is Above the Law" rallies around the country, in the event they are needed900+ of them and counting, in every state, with 400,000 RSVPs to date!
Join us.

The NYT needs to print a front page retraction in tomorrow's issue.

(2,959 posts)didn't look as graciuosly smug as he normally looks with a scoop. I read the article right after the show and noticed the complete lack of my direct quotes from people in the room. With the exception of Rosentstein's assertion that he was being sarcastic.
Another thought that hit me quickly was why now a year or so after the alleged events is this a front page story?
edited to add the last sentence.

(884 posts)The same day what's his face is rolling out a media plan to build support for firing Rosenstein, this hit piece drops.
Anyone care to offer odds we don't eventually see this tied to the aborted declassification drive earlier this week?
"Persons briefed on the meeting/memo" sure sounds an awful lot to me like "stooges selectively leaking un-de-classified information at the behest of Fox "News" by way of tRump".
I've heard of State-run media, but Media-run State?
Is this really where we are now?
