Poor kid? I think not. He's being directed off a bad path. That kid's been blessed. marble falls Sep 2018 #3

You're picturing this adorable little tyke just wanting to be friendly and lovable who gets rejected and you want to give him a reassuring hug. But you agree the youngster is better off learning how to accept rejection. I'm betting that's where you're coming from.

Kids need to be taught to respect other people's rights. Sometimes doing that is tough. The little girl could have had one of many reasons for not wanting him to hug her, his dad taught him to respect her wishes, regardless of how she came upon them. It is a tough lesson, sometimes taking the kid and giving him a reassuring hug powerfully reinforces the teaching that is being given to him, he understands that the teaching is being given in a loving way.
