He makes me tear up.

I normally don't contribute to campaigns not in my own state. I will his, however.

I even looked up his birth year to see if that was possible. ( It is.) Then I gasped when I saw his middle name.

His looks, energy and passion for people really do echo RFK.

I had actually looked into volunteering for Beto's campaign awhile back after finding out you could volunteer even if you were out-of-state. I had received links on how to go about volunteering, but with Hurricane Florence, I sort of had other pressing matters to tend to! But after watching the debate last -- and getting a text about helping out his campaign, presumably from a volunteer -- I went through the email and completed the pre-volunteer sign-up procedure in an effort to volunteer for his campaign. Now, I have to wait to hear back if I've been accepted, heh.

I have never volunteered for a campaign before, and now that I have some free time to do so, I looked into what I could do. I found a website -- https://events.mobilizeamerica.io/ -- that had a bunch of events that I could volunteer for, but to be honest, all the events were a bit overwhelming! Plus there weren't very many right in my (very conservative) area of the country. So, I decided to devote my time to volunteer for a "stretch" campaign: one that may be difficult -- but very possible! -- to win. I felt like that is somewhere where my volunteer efforts would be put to the best use, and that is why I am hoping to soon be a volunteer for Beto's campaign!

Kick in to the DU tip jar?

This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.

As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.

Tell me more...
