After seeing Judges denial, Elizabeth Rasor, who met Judge at Catholic University and was in a relationship with him for about three years, said that she felt morally obligated to challenge his account that no horseplay took place at Georgetown Prep with women. Rasor stressed that under normal circumstances, I wouldnt reveal information that was told in confidence, but, she said, I cant stand by and watch him lie. In an interview with The New Yorker, she said, Mark told me a very different story. Rasor recalled that Judge had told her ashamedly of an incident that involved him and other boys taking turns having sex with a drunk woman. Rasor said that Judge seemed to regard it as fully consensual. She said that Judge did not name others involved in the incident, and she has no knowledge that Kavanaugh participated. But Rasor was disturbed by the story and noted that it undercut Judges protestations about the sexual innocence of Georgetown Prep. (Barbara Van Gelder, an attorney for Judge, said that he categorically denies the account related by Rasor. Van Gelder said that Judge had no further comment.)Another woman who attended high school in the nineteen-eighties in Montgomery County, Maryland, where Georgetown Prep is located, also refuted Judges account of the social scene at the time, sending a letter to Fords lawyers saying that she had witnessed boys at parties that included Georgetown Prep students engaging in sexual misconduct. In an interview, the woman, who asked to have her name withheld for fear of political retribution, recalled that male students would get a female student blind drunk on what they called jungle juicegrain alcohol mixed with Hawaiian Punchthen try to take advantage of her. It was disgusting, she said. They treated women like meat.

Reminds of some of the used textbooks I'd look at that would have fewer sentences unhighlighted by the previous owner than highlighted. "You failed that class, I bet," I'd say to myself, "Because you have no concept of what's important and what isn't."

(17,984 posts)When the Rs state that "boys behave badly when they are that age", it doesn't really carry much weight. Describe the bad behavior, however, and it's a whole other story.

(4,468 posts)This Kavanaugh fellow is the embodiment of every asshole Ive ever met in my life. Take every self-entitled jerk Ive ever had the misfortune of running into and blend them all together and this turd would pop out. Those feared football players - if there is any justice in the universe these bastards are curled up in a ball in the back of their closets, quaking with the knowledge that a lifetime of doing shitty things to people is just about to catch up with them.
Fuck them hard and irrevocably and to hell with their ilk.

(9,426 posts)These guys are what the gop call "presidential timber". We all know the gop is the party of perverts. The dirty dems are the people who expose their good guys for "high school pranks" I raised two boys, and would bet my life on the fact that neither EVER did the things these gop elite do.

(75 posts)It has a group of Jesuit priests in it, and a group of boys at Catholic boys' schools who are taught by Jesuit priests, on one side. On the other side is a group of weeping small children and girls. The priests and boys are pointing toward the group of emotionally damaged children and girls, saying, "this never happened, and we never lie. If you say one word, we will destroy you. Meanwhile, stop trying to ruin our spotless reputations."

(89,950 posts)This is totally mind-blowing. I'm old enough to remember the Anita Hill persecution. Watching some of the file footage of that dismal episode, I started cringing all over again. She was publicly humiliated in those hearings. They're dead meat on this committee next week if they even TRY to put Dr. Ford through anything even remotely close to that. It was so degrading to watch, and a marvel to watch at the same time - as far as how poised Anita Hill remained, throughout that ordeal. I was embarrassed FOR her, though, at how all those men on that male-only Senate Committee were such flaming assholes!!!
I wonder if Joe Biden ever apologized to her for short sheeting that investigation and not bothering to call in several other women who came forward to buttress her testimony. I hope he has, but I don't remember if he did. He sure owes her one.

(89,950 posts)I do tend to want to give him the benefit of the doubt. But I cant forget how degrading it felt, and how bad I felt for her having to endure it in public, alone at that witness table, being treated with suspicion by a panel that was all men.

(9,426 posts)as though it was a joke. The tragedy was, Ms. Hill was more "Supreme Court material" than low down dirty Thomas. She had more class and dignity than any man in that room.

(53,410 posts)She never stuttered or stumbled or hesitated or looked a bit scared of them. She was calm and dignified throughout all of it. They thought when they demanded salacious details about what Thomas would do and say that it would embarrass her. She answered questions about him talking about public hair in the coke and said that he called his penis Long Dong Silver.
But youre right that it was cringeworthy. But it was the panel who looked bad, not Anita Hill.

(638 posts)This monster needs to lose his job and be charged with rape. He needs to be forced to take personal responsibility for his actions. This is so wrong I couldn't read through the whole article in the new yorker. It reminded me of the interview with sandusky. There's only so much someone with a conscience can stomach.

(518 posts)about 🍄rump and that 13 year old girl he raped..When old enough she filed a complaint against him and was threatened for her life and that of her family. It's despicable! Trump has no conscience and he is a creep and sexual predator with more than 18 women coming out about him,,

(37,648 posts)There are women across the country who can't run for office because they partied a little too hardy in their youth, and to think of men like this who think their past of treating people like meat should be no problem, and other elite white males agreeing wholeheartedly. Talk about the old boys network.
I said the exact words to my wife last night. I wish I could run for office, but I have more than a few skeletons....almost an entire graveyard, truth be told.
Talk about entitlement, to think you deserve to be anointed without question or scrutiny. I hope Kavanaugh goes down hard, and the Dems win the House and Senate. Poetic justice for the pathetic Justice.

(37,648 posts)that maybe I could run for City Council or something, but no...I cringed when I thought about my party days. I certainly didn't hurt anyone, but I had a good time, and I was pretty sure some people would come out of the woodwork to embarrass me about those days. And I was pretty sure that I wouldn't get elected because of that.
The gall of the elite to regard such a past as Kavanaugh's as nothing to blink at....that ticks me off to no end.

(11,885 posts)And as more get exposed , and it includes money issues , and possible russia ties. I think trump and the kgop have set themselves up to fail and insure the Democrats retake both the House and the Senate back, and with trump and the kgop helping them every day by talking and tweeting themselves into another corner they can't get out of. kavanaugh is a liar and corrupt, and a sexual predator. That's not going to help them do anything, and it'll backfire on them all badly , again.

(41,536 posts)... and most of us have known privileged white dorks like Kavanaugh, even if we didn't go to Catholic boys' prep schools. Somehow those boys never had to pay for all the shit they caused in other people's lives. And now they've grown up to become asshole Republicans, and the same shit is still going on. I'm happy these women are finally coming forward.
We've seen ample evidence that Kavanaugh should never have become a judge at all, let alone a SCOTUS justice!
