Does a Kavanaugh confirmation hurt or help the Republicans in November's election?

Various Republican talking heads have suggested that failing to confirm Kavanaugh will make for an even tougher November for Republicans. Supposedly getting him confirmed would fire up the Republican base.

I'd like to think confirming Kavanaugh would hurt Republicans and help Democrats (i.e., it's our base that would be even more fired up), and that those talking heads are pushing for a quick vote simply because they know Kavanaugh on the court makes it easier to protect Trump. Then again, how much do they really care about Trump?

In the end, we just have to GOTV. But what do you all think about the notion that confirming Kavanaugh would actually help Republicans do better in November?

Additionally, if Kavanaugh is confirmed, the senate isn't imperative to keep right now. They, of course, would prefer to keep the majority but the importance isn't immediate since they will have their conservative majority on the court.

Whether he gets on or not. That is the bottom line if this country is to have any chance of survival over the next generation.

I think confirmation would be a better outcome for them. Somehow, a failure to confirm would be akin to George HW Bush raising taxes after his “read my lips” stuff. A failure to confirm would show that Republicans lack organizational resolve, from the perspective of some right-wing people.

Winning breeds winning. Losing leads to frustration and being demoralized.

We are better off if Kavanaugh is not confirmed. If the GOP succeeds with Kavanaugh before the midterm it is going to motivate their voters into a surge of energy and confidence, a determination to line up the next judge and do it again.

In fact, literally within minutes on their forums there would be exhilaration and gleeful projections of RBG or others to soon die off so Trump can fill another seat.

I learned situational impact via 24 years in the Las Vegas sports betting scene. Only suckers believe in revenge or picking yourself off the floor. If they win they'll be extra hungry for more.

The GOP has decided that it's worth losing a few Senate seats if that's the cost for a life-time appointment for Kavanaugh.

If I was a GOP Senator on the bubble in November or even 2020, I'd be pissed.

Republicans will give up on the party if they cant confirm kavanaugh. They can not win in November without him. That is why kavanaugh will most likely be confirmed.

and not the Democratic ones, maybe the independents, but my feeling is everyone has picked a side, facts and truth be damned, our battle is one of turnout, we have the numbers.
