...making a complaint of sexual assault. I think the GOP have done truth a favor and themselves a harm.

(34,285 posts)assume the hired gun who worked for ARPAIO is being a decent person and getting to the truth without unnecessarily demeaning the witness, is that correct?

(34,285 posts)She didnt want to fly and needed a couple extra days and THAT is what they ask her about?

(10,988 posts)guess that's all they have - she was anxious to get on a plane to Washington.

(26,540 posts)therefore she wasnt really harmed by the incident. An amazing tack to take because it infers the incident took place.

(15,506 posts)... the GOP gotcha questions in a respectful, kind manner, and Ford knocked her answers out of the park!

(15,506 posts)... clearing up any possible unclear points and Ford is coming across totally credible.

(26,955 posts)doesn't mean it's a good process for interviewing survivors.

(15,506 posts)... any inconsistencies. To me she's giving Ford an opportunity to explain them well. Some of the posts in this thread sound like they want Mitchell to be working for the Democrats. She sounds neutral to me.

(169,760 posts)are lawyers, so they know the bullshit that Mitchell is doing and are ready for it.

(15,506 posts)... doing it in a neutral way, just to find the truth and giving Ford a chance to shine!
BumRushDaShow
(169,760 posts)Anyone who has a PhD has to defend themselves in front of any myriad group of people so she has been "grilled", in a sense, before. The questioner may appear to be "neutral" but the questions aren't and are designed to be "gotchas".
I think too that because she is a psychologist as a field and as a teacher, she is very aware of "people" and what is going on around her and I think that helps for her training to "kick in" automatically.
LAS14
(15,506 posts)... royally to hire a respectful, neutral person who wants the truth. Remember, her whole professional life has been oriented to prosecuting offenders in sexual cases.
BumRushDaShow
(169,760 posts)that this is not a "court of law" and that is how she has conducted the questioning - which is why Dr. Ford's lawyers have been intervening more and more as this hearing goes on. She has been crossing the lines that she shouldn't in a hearing setting (let alone if it had been a court of law).
