Brett Kavanaugh Could Be Facing Impeachment As Top House Democrat Talks Investigation

<snip>

Mike DeBonis

@mikedebonis

NEW from @RepCummings, who could soon have subpoena power if Dems win House: "I would *love* to have (Mark) Judge testify before my committee. I would love to. Bring him out from Bethany Beach or wherever he is. And he can sit there and tell us, sworn, what's going on."
8:23 AM - Sep 28, 2018

When he was asked about impeaching Kavanaugh, Cummings said:

Replying to @mikedebonis

Cummings stopped short of saying Dems would definitely pursue investigation/potential impeachment of Kavanaugh. "I think we have to take a look at it."
8:24 AM - Sep 28, 2018

Cummings added, “We’ll cross that bridge when we come to it.”
Brett Kavanaugh Could Be Impeached

The story isn’t going to end with the Brett Kavanaugh Supreme Court confirmation process. Kavanaugh could end up removed from the federal bench. Brett Kavanaugh appears destined for an ending like many others who have chosen to associate with Donald Trump. - PoliticusUSA

to make it clear to Republicans that this is a flawed candidate and the Democrats will properly vet him if they won't. No point saying that after the midterms

Thanks Elijah !

And just because he let 2-minute ToadieHead touch him. Everything around Toadie dies (or goes to jail).

But Kavanaugh is author of his own demise.

He knowingly lied.

we've seen in government in being profoundly dishonorable and dishonest with both himself and others.

I've been noticing for years now that a significant number of the very talented scumbags we see soar on the right end up self destructing and crashing. Their serious ethical and other deficiencies turn out to be fatal dysfunctions.

Our government systems are designed to require ethical behaviors and adherence to rules and even norms. Those can be ignored and gotten around with sufficient cleverness and power, of course, but those same systems include mechanisms for removal and so many of these people just arrogantly keep violating and abusing power until they're taken out.

lied to lawmakers during hearings or on his background-check forms, that could spark a criminal investigation in which law enforcement could use the full extent of its legal powers."

We know Kavanaugh lied during the hearings, of course. Were any of those lies we witnessed serious and germane enough to possibly cause the roof to fall in on him?

Also, although none of these sex offense accusations have been proven, and could turn out to be unprovable, Kavanaugh's lied so much right out in public that it seems quite likely he lied on his background check forms too, and the FBI's very good at tracking those truths down..

Maryland authorities now say they will investigate if an accuser makes a complaint. However, from lawandcrime.com, even if Ford's charges were substantiated, for various reasons he wouldn't face criminal charges, including: "The allegations against Kavanaugh would amount to attempted rape or attempted sexual offense, which are both felonies. The problem is that in 1982 they were misdemeanors, and this wasn’t changed until 1996."

Of course, conviction in Maryland would not be required to impeach him from his appellate court judgeship.

Hope, hope. We need to get these swamp creatures out of our government.

talking impeachment before seeing what the FBI report contains is a very prudent thing. especially right before the midterms.

On the other hand, in 7 days if the FBI presents evidence, not only of his violent temperament, but false statements that he made during testimony, then it would be worth examining, but only if we can get 2/3 of the Senate to go along.

Where we should be focusing on right now, and we are, is preventing him from being confirmed as a SC justice.

When and if the time comes, I personally believe there are other avenues to pursue other than impeachment that would get him removed from the bench if the evidence is there, and that is where I believe the energy should be focused if we are going to do it.

Go research the impeachment procedure. Even if we take the Senate, we will not have the 2/3 supermajority necessary to remove Kavanaugh assuming the House will vote to impeach.

If Kavanaugh is confirmed, he is on SCOTUS for the rest of his life. The only hope is that the FBI finds something that is indisputably disqualifying before Kavanaugh can be confirmed.

There is virtually no likelihood of impeachment once Kavanaugh is on SCOTUS.
