She has the right temperament, knowledge, compassion, and seriousness.
She is exactly the kind of personality that this country needs right now.
Not a hint of any scandal, no personality issues, humble, and trustworthy. And wickedly smart.
She would win among all demographic groups against any Republican.
I hope she runs.

(3,192 posts)She'd run against either Trumpy McBoof or Pence. If Trumpy, the debates would be fascinating, matching Amy's polite restraint against Trump's, well, Trumpiness. If Pence, the debates would match a reasoned defender of the constitution against a religious hypocrite who ruined the state of Indiana.
Bring it on, please!

(27,620 posts)Hundreds of women are running for local, state and national offices inspired by the misogyny that was exposed in the 2016 elections. Now is the time.

(26,073 posts)I really liked what I saw of her during the hearing and agree with your points about her temperament and intelligence. She's a warm caring person, but brooks no nonsense.

(7,537 posts)and the ones who were prepared and composed were named: Ford, Klobuchar and Harris.
Not that Whitehouse and others were not, but the women were most impressive.

(9,260 posts)We need a 2 woman ticket, there are 3 good women on the Judiciary Committee alone. There's more than two dozen good qualified women from the Dem elected officials, Senators, Congresswomen, Govs.
All the elected Dem women should caucus and come up with a 2 woman ticket. Then pull all the good Dem men elected officials into support for the ticket they picked.
Sen. Klobuchar would be a great president. So would Warren, Hirono, Harris, Waters, Wilson, Duckworth, Lee, Speier, Kaptur, Cantwell, Jackson Lee, Gillibrand, etc. Not Pelosi, she should be Speaker.

(151,210 posts)Here in Minnesota, we're very proud of her, and she easily gets re-elected on a bipartisan basis. I've talked to her a few times, and her honesty, forthrightness and interest in hearing what others have to say is unique among politicians I have encountered. By the same token, she will explain and defend her positions with clarity and resolve.
Would she make an excellent President? Absolutely. Will she run? Probably not. I don't think that is her ambition.

(6,759 posts)I have known Amy for almost 20 years. I have followed her career, campaigned for her, and voted for her. Never have I been disappointed by her, never! She would be a great president, but I, too, don't think that is on her radar.

We have so many wonderful people to choose from, unlike republicans who will just recycle the same old tired personalities and most of them will just be trying to sell something. Running for president can be a lucrative pastime or possibly a pathway to a TV gig. The republican party has truly become a circus.

voice coach, IMHO.

(27,995 posts)She comes across as very genuine. Her accent reminds me of time I've spent in MN and the people I've known from there.
Some midwestern accents, like those of Bob Woodward and our governor, Doug Ducey
set my teeth on edge.
We've had candidates with very strong southern and northeastern accents which don't seem to hinder them.
Also, some voters will have a problem with a woman's voice no matters where she comes from.
StevieM
(10,578 posts)She wants to tie foreign aid to a country's willingness to open up to American adoptions.
I find that position to be appalling. And it will forever prevent her from getting my vote, at least in a primary.
The adoption industry needs to be reigned in, not expanded to new markets.

Klobuchar
Whitehouse
Harris
Booker
Any of the two above would make a great ticket.

(4 posts)Klobuchar is probably the best choice. The right wing seems to have some kind of conspiracy drawn up to attack Kamala Harris. Now is there any credence to this at all? They are tying her to failing to force enough compliance from Catholic Church officials in various priest abuse investigations. If there is a good writeup debunking all of that it would be useful -- you don't really want a nominee who can be demonized so easily. It would also be nice to see Kamala Harris have a few more years in the Senate. Nothing wrong with her as a VP candidate though.
