Will Kavanaugh be confirmed?

What is your feelings on this? I believe President Trump will be forced to pull his nomination. Up until a few days ago I thought Kavanugh was a shoe in. Amy Coney Barrett will be put up next and then hopefully there’s a fight to shoot her down as well.

I would prefer to see Dems approach this on multiple fronts, and to include perjury charges as well as Fords credible account of the attack. We need to remind the public that Republicans hid documents on Kavanaugh and we should be bringing that up at every turn to increase public support for waiting until after the election.

The only reason Trump agreed to the investigation is so he and the GOP can use it as cover in the mid-terms. Whatever the investigation finds it will not be enough to stop Kavanaugh.

We will be stuck with him for some time. It will be nearly impossible to find 66 senators to convict him even if he is impeached.

Sorry to be so negative but I'm a realist.

What so many folks are not seeing or refuse to accept is that the writing is on the wall. The fix is in and has been in for a long time. This is years in the making by the fanatical right-wing dark money holders in this country. With Putin on their side and a man as corrupt and evil as Trump, their stark, horrific worldview and destruction of America as we know it will come to fruition. (For example, just as we are all focusing on SCOTUS, 100s of children who should be reunited with their parents were moved to a tent city in Texas. Their evil knows no bounds.)

Two people everyone should be following on Twitter and listening to are Malcolm Nance and Sarah Kendzior. Both have been warning about this for the past two years and both are right. The only reason Trump has not fired Rosenstein (and ultimately shut down the Russian investigation) is because his handlers have told him not to worry and he can wait a bit. Kavanaugh installed means Trump will go nowhere and our country is basically gone. Also, do not be shocked when we don't win back the house or the Senate. My tinfoil hat is quite lovely, thank you, but I believe beyond a shadow of a doubt that Russians hacked and changed votes in voting machines in 2016 and they will do it again this November. All you have to do is look at the pattern of behavior by Lindsey Graham and others to see that a large majority of the GOP is compromised, complicit, and actively working as Trump's flying monkeys. They have refused to give money to help secure our elections. They don't want them secured for a very obvious reason. And Hatch is trying to push through a bill that would make it possible for Trump to pardon state crimes. He'll get it passed and Trump and his kids will be untouchable. So will Manafort, etc. Roger Stone is cocky for a reason.

So, bottom line is: Kavanaugh will be installed, our institutions will continue to crumble and Mueller is not going to save us. Best we can all do is keep fighting locally - and definitely vote. The more of us who vote, the more obvious it will be they cheated. But cheat they will.

Winter is here for good, sadly. I'm already resigned to the fact that I will have work until I'm dead because Social Security will be gone. So will many of our rights.

This whole blasted cluster, um... thing-a-majig has pretty well dashed any small belief I may have held in Karma or any other balance in the Universe, divine or otherwise.

My only remaining almost imperceptible light like that of a distant star is that ultimately the Trump cult's interference in the legal framework of the United States judicial system may in the end make the unlikely event of one of the perpetrators of this crime against all which is good and just is successfully prosecuted a little more miserable.

Their scheme to be able to excuse state crimes which are also federal crimes ignores a truth which any ex-convict will tell you, serving time in a state facility is far worse than doing so in a federal lockup. And, there are a whole lot of crimes which are tried exclusively at the state level. For instance, until recently, murder was not a federal crime. I'm sure there are many more state only crimes Trump and his clan have had an indite worthy role.

So, in the end Trump will have made it uglier for everyone as is what he does best.

it's impossible to predict without knowing what could still lie ahead in the next several days. Last week's day of Senate testimony alone could have been subdivided into four distinct news cycles (she said, he screamed, Flake's a "yeah", Flake revisits), each one bringing a shift in outcome predictions, only to be revisited again hours or even minutes later.

a Democratic conspiracy. It's their normal playbook, accuse us of doing exactly what they are doing. We now know that there was a 'vast right wing conspiracy' trying to bring down the Clintons, and they strongly laughed it off and said we were paranoid at the time. Now, they are trying to deflect from their own decades long conspiracy to put strongly biased judges on all of the high courts by grooming them to seem fair-minded and covering up any controversies in their past.

It's hard to win against this game, particularly when it goes hand in hand with rigging elections.

Not only that, he’ll write the opinion that rules presidents above the law and beyond the reach of investigation. Just to be triply sure, he’ll also write the opinion granting presidents the right to self-pardon.

This is just the latest nail in the coffin of our democracy. The coup started long before McConnell’s Merrick Garland stunt. I believe they knew the fix was in, that the election would be manipulated into a Republican win, just as I think they know now that the midterms are fixed thus public opinion about the Kavanagh circus does not matter. We’ll all be muttering again about the mysterious “red shift” after the election.

Our only hope is to GOTV in massive numbers, so massive that the neo-fascist right won’t risk manipulating too many polls. But at that point Kavanaugh will be seated and Trump will be safe to be even more Trumpist than he is now.

I o soooo much hope to be wrong!!!

The only Republican we might pick off is Murkowski (although she might vote"present" ) It looks to me like the best case is a tie, which Pence will break by saying "yes" and Kavanaugh will be in.

Then Trump can fire Sessions and install Lindsay Graham.

First a one week delay. Now another. In Politics, this is the equivalent of letting grass grow over ground you'd rather not have exposed.

Yes, his next nominee will be just as bad, but this would show that we are not going to take every national indignity lying down--INCLUDING his next nominee. They wouldn't even give our last one the courtesy of acknowledging his very existence. Thy are due for some quid pro quo.

At any rate, Kavanaugh was not a shoe-in, slipper-in, boot-in or sock-in (I'm betting you meant shoo-in), and that alone will make the Republicans think about how horrible their next nominees can be before there is serious blowback.

If I already expect that smug little lying right-wing, asshole-baby will serve on SCOTUS, then it’s just more of the lousy shit I expected from our history’s worst administration. I’ll continue to quietly smolder, without jacking my BP up to 140/120
