This is a major disaster.

That region is prone to such earthquakes and the tsunamis that follow. Sadly, people tend to build near the shoreline. I was horrified by the video footage I've seen of the tsunami.

I love visiting beaches, but I have never wanted to own a house on a beach.
We have good friends who live on a cliff in Bull Bay. They have a majestic view, but the day we get a serious quake followed by a tsunami in the Southeast, they and their neighbors will crash into the Caribbean Sea.
The storm surge from Hurricane Ivan alone took out most of the beautiful homes a few miles down that coast.
