Several states have towns of Ludington. New York has Ludingtonville, named after a Revolutionary War colonel. I'd never heard the name before either.

Sybil Ludington was known as the female Paul Revere, warning residents of Danbury, CT that the British were burning fields.

It is a non-research professorship with only teaching responsibilities that is different than an assistant professor. (I was also one at NCSU.)

He does sound like a preppie, doesn't he?

Not that there's anything wrong with that.
