So surely a serial perjurer can be forgiven for a few fibs, and then be rapidly advanced to the highest court in the land for the rest of his miserable fucking life.

aren't so serious. But, they aren't in isolation. I think mischaracterizing what he did in high school or college regarding women and booze would be serious. Saying he didn't have any help getting into Yale, even though his granddad is an alumnus, ain't serious to me and shouldn't even be mentioned unless way down the list.
