I don't typically put ice in my beer, nor do I drink sodas in bars.

However my alcoholic patients will state that the had a beer on the way over to my office when I can smell the whiskey.
Lots of stories here.

(46 posts)Two days ago, after hearing the interview of Julie Swetnick, something suddenly made sense regarding beer. She said that at these parties, girls were handed red Solo cups of 'punch'. These girls became intoxicated rapidly, some girls would pass out. She said something about being 'drugged' or the punch 'spiked'.
Everyone is focusing on beer with all of these comments about liking beer and I'm sure he does, I don't doubt that. But what made more sense is that the punch may have been spiked but with grain alcohol, not vodka or gin. High school girls prefer a sweet punch over a beer at parties, I still remember those days.
Grain alcohol is 95% pure alcohol or, 190 proof. Whereas a beer is about 12% alcohol. It wouldn't take more than one 12 oz. Solo cup to cause someone to lose control of themselves or even to black out.
I think when the event happened at the bar when Kavanaugh threw ice at this guy, It was obviously from either a mixed drink or 'on the rocks' alcohol. Kavanaugh had a drinking problem, there's not doubt about it. It may not have been that he drank to excess but that either his body had a low tolerance for alcohol or it so greatly affected his personality that his aggression became a problem. Republican Senators like Mitch McConnell talk about Kavanaugh liking beer in a way as to mock Democrats for making a big deal out of it. Hey, most men like beer, right? But there's not been any mention so far of alcoholic drinks other than beer and I believe there were plenty of those.
