just these two things - we have a president who is "in love" with a ruthless dictator

we have a supreme court nominee who has severe substance abuse issues, inability to tell the truth, and a sexual predator.

That's only two of countless - but how the hell did we get here?

Setting aside foreign interference for a minute:

The Atlantic this month (October) examines the many ways that our democracy is in danger. One is that a greater segment of the population does not and never has gotten involved in civic organizations and are therefore unfamiliar with the idea of democratic order (in meetings and groups and such) and doesn't know much about respecting rules and laws. Those are the ones open to following a demagogue like Demented Don. They can be led around by the nose. The reddest areas are filled with people like this. They are primed to believe that everyone in government is corrupt and that all the rules and laws should just be thrown out.
