Alert Dangerous While Driving

The alert went off while in my vehicle. It was very loud. You're tempted to reach over to turn it off. I worry about young people who pay very close attention to their phones. It can cause them to have an accident. I don't mind such alerts on my TV, but not on my phone. I've commented on other threads, but I believe this should have its own thread.

1. Yes - that is why my phone is set to vibrate only on all alerts.

I was driving in NoVA when a weather warning of a severe thunderstorm startled me badly. I was already in the storm. Later that day I found the settings for alerts and changed them to be silent. This includes presidential alerts.

2. Yes-you can set your phone for no texts while driving

I did not know you could turn off presidential alerts.

4. I get them, just no sounds. The phone only vibrates.

My phone is an Android and about two years old. I unchecked the box for Play notification sound in Alerts - Settings.
