Presidential Alert System's true intent?

I had the bad awful.thought that this would be the mechanism that 2-minute Toadie uses as his way of a) alerting everyone to a terrorist attack, and then b) use it to announce suspending of the Constitution where he then cements his power.

I hate to be ageist here but if he were 30 years younger and more technically savvy beyond thumbing something on his phone to tweet, then MAYBE he would have the aptitude to login to the special account required in the system needed to actually compose and SEND THAT "nationwide" level of message.

Think about it for a moment, what could he reasonably use such a nationwide system for? Weather? Earthquake? Tsunami? All too localized. I'm sure he's foaming at the mouth to use his new toy... it won't be long until they corrupt this too.

The continental U.S. is 3.5 million square miles in size (depending on what is counted of the territories and OCONUS), so 99.9% of emergency-type events ARE "localized".

The same one that interrupts broadcast and cable TV, satellite TV and radio and AM/FM radio on a regularly scheduled basis.

My little flip phone has a setting that can enable/disable "notifications" like NWS severe weather warnings and "Amber" alerts.
