Kavanaugh's very own behavior last Friday is egrious enough to not confirm him.
Yet.
Today, all day, it will hinge on the FBI report.
I will continue to contact GOP Senators and hammer home that Kavanaugh showed America his temper and extreme partisanship and who he really is now, and going forward.

(8,200 posts)Kiss your democracy goodbye. It went down the tubes when people don't care to even get informed or show up to be good citizens on election day.

(33,346 posts)I understand you're frustrated, but don't give up and don't encourage others to do so, please.
Calling Senators, as the OP, is what got an extra week for even a sham investigation, during which there has been significant extra information come to light in the news. It has also resulted in many, many more VOTERS becoming informed and activated.
Resist.

(8,200 posts)But, the facts are the facts. I used to walk the precincts to get out the vote. I am too damn old to do it any more. I volunteered and worked with the local precincts. Sadly, apathy has steadily taken over as a direct result of the corruption that permeates politics. Especially the Republican hate machine that is destroying the nations unity.
I can only hope that this Nov. 6th will be a turning point and Democrats can regain control of the House and possibly the Senate. The fact is the only weapon I have is the vote and my attempts to influence my representatives. I don't delude myself that the letters and calls that I make to my representatives that are dominated by Republicans have any affect what-so-ever. In fact those answering the phones just cut you off and your letter is filed with the rest of the complaints in the round file.

(42,282 posts)They backed Hillary in 2016 (first Dem in 100 years) and Cordray for gov this year--the Wolfe family no longer owns the paper. Not that this will sway uber-partisan Rob Portman...but hey, we have Sharrod Brown, too!

(7,142 posts)if Kavanaugh is confirmed the narrative will be mainly about the sexual assault. We won't hear about all of the other numerous reasons why Kavanaugh is not qualified. Kavanaugh is a monster.
I saw a speech he gave in 2015 where he stated that a judge must be nonpartisan which he clearly showed in his Senate hearing that he was partisan.
I'm not a doctor, but along with his alcohol issue I think the monster may be bipolar.

(981 posts)All they wanted it for was to make the optics better when they go ahead and ram his confirmation through. These people are such assholes they make me sick. Now Drumpf is using this whole process to gin up a story about how sad it is that the poor entitled white boy is being discriminated because of his one small youthful indiscretion....pure fucking fiction, but it's energizing his base of deplorables.
SAD!

(779 posts)McConnell is a crook, Trump is a crook, and with the two dishonest people we do not stand a chance, I just hope that we have womens marches the length and breadth of the country this weekend, I am so mad I cannot bear to think of the senate and the things they are pulling.

(12,586 posts)Nowhere in his diatribe against Dr. Ford is he holding out the possibility that it's wrong for someone to behave like that, and that there should be consequences, no matter how much it fucks up his carefully laid plans.

They love the end of voting rights, affirmative action, and want Citizen's United. His partisanship recommends him to them.

The Columbus Dispatch has turned considerably more liberal since the ultra conservative Wolfe family sold it.
I play quite a bit of organized high level Womens doubles tennis in the area, mostly populated by pretty well off gals, it is not cheap....and out of the women I know well enough to know their politics it is 3-1 progressive.
