How would they remove Roberts from the Chief Justice position? Asking because I really don't know how that would happen. I thought the job usually opened up upon the death or retirement of the current Chief Justice.

then filled by appointing Brett Kavanaugh (will be on the court) to the Chief position.

Then DT45 will appoint a new member.

6. Yes, at 63 years old, he could be there for another 2 decades. In any case Dems must shout it loud

that they will open an investigation into him, if the Reps confirm him....and they need to say it NOW.

3. That doesn't make much sense. The Chief doesn't have much additional power either.

seems like a stupid reason to invent a crisis. I doubt Kavanaugh would go along with it either. He seems like he's got the Constitution stuck up his ass, and that has never been conceived of, let alone tested in the courts.

I figure he could make Roberts's life a misery with calls at all hours. Trump knows no boundaries. Once Kav votes for Trump to be able to skate away from investigation Trump will owe him.

Anyhow, I'm with you. Trump will reward his benefactor. Time will tell. But I believe it's a reasonable speculation.
