With all due respect to the writer of Tora, Tora, Tora and to the man he attributed the original to, Isoroku Yamamoto, this is what smart Repugnants should be thinking.

(988 posts)You will only demonstrate the wrath in November if the GOP lets you.
this is their mission and so far they are winning on this front.
Maybe another protest will help.

(98,883 posts)defeatist game, that is their right.
As for your cynical comment, "maybe another protest will help", how about MAYBE VOTING?
How about canvassing? How about call banking?
You are demoralized, ok, I get it, but WTF does your negative defeatist rant do for anything
If you want to give up, that is your choice, but keep you victim mentality to yourself. There are plenty of us who are more than up to this fight this as long as it takes.
We were there during the Viet Nam War, the Civil Rights movement, women's rights, workers rights etc., and we are there now

Have a good time doing that while the rest of us actually work to GOTV
I find it ironic that you keep spewing the one note cynical pony "maybe another protest will work"
I also find it ironic that you don't even talk about GOTV, call banking, canvassing, or for that matter even voting
That speaks volumes to me about you
The ironic thing about all of this is it would not have even been an issue if those so-called self-identified progressives who refused to vote for the Democratic nominee in 2016 by either voting third party or not voting, had voted for the Democratic nominee, instead of lying and false equivalency bullshit, and actively working through social media and other outlets to encourage naive people to follow suit
It didn't take much, 1%
every Democrat running for Senate in those critical swing states lost to the incumbent, establishment, republican, and those Demorats were progressive by any standard

(988 posts)We could vote dems into power in the house and yet it would take years to undo the advantages the GOP has built in.
Through years of gerrymandering they have stacked the voting.
You want to take that ot court? that is already covered by the GOP.
Get some more senators in the Senate? The states are stacked to always have more GOP senators.
We might be set to have the president in good years but if the GOP has the house and the senate then we dont have much control.
Sure all we have is GOTv. In Louisiana I will vote for the democratic congressman... they wont win in this heavy red state.
MY POINT is that while worrying about what Potties transgender will be able to use. We HAVE LOST religious groups. We have lost Law Enforcement Groups.
We HAVE A LONG up hill battle ahead for the next

(19,240 posts)Democrats are motivated by anger. Republicans are motivated by fear. Now that rapist Republican men think they have nothing to fear, they are going to snooze through November.
Rove was a master of E-vote fraud, disenfranchisement and playing the press, but even with the DOJ/FBI/CIA under his thumb, he could not stop the Dems from retaking the House and Senate in 2006. And the only friendly press that year was NBC/GE/the Pentagon and (in a sudden about face in September) ABC/Disney. Every news outlet except Fox and WSJ hates Trump.
Plus, you have to consider the magnitude of the anger. In 2006, Americans were mad over the stolen 2004 election, the quagmire in Iraq and Katrina. In 2018, Americans are also mad over a stolen 2016--only this time, it was stolen by folks from Russia, not Texas. They are mad about Rape. Rape is much closer to home that a foreign war. They are mad about children behind bars being molested by pedophiles.
Anger. It does a Party good.

(988 posts)We have had our leaders asleep at he wheel while the GOP has been plotting the entire take over of state legislatures, us house, us senate stacked in their favor. Now the US Supreme court is in their favor. Religious groups favor them. Law enforcement favor them.
It will be a long long climb back. We have demographics in our favor for a little while.

(19,240 posts)Semion Mogilevich. Who does not understand that this country is, at heart, a matriarchy. In Russia, women do as they are told. So what if you knock a Russian woman around? You are not even breaking Russian law when you beat your wife . The idea that women could be a political force to be reckoned with would not even occur to the Russians.
