General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsAfter the election, how long should the Mueller investigation continue?
Most of us are naturally impatient and would like for him to do something before it is too late.
But we must look at this more realistically, in my opinion.
It depends on the results of the election. If Republicans maintain control of the House and Senate, then I would support Mueller's investigation continuing into the next presidential election year, 2020.
If nothing else, it keeps them occupied and not creating havoc elsewhere...
If Democrats win the House, there will be discussions of whether or not to impeach. It would depend on the results of the Mueller investigation.
If Democrats win the Senate, it would force better judicial appointments. Nothing would be sweeter than to see Mitch McConnell stuck in a corner with a discredited and disgraced Republican minority...

(89,260 posts)the investigation should go on as long as it needs to.
the investigation should have nothing to do with the election.
the investigation is about finding crimes, wrongdoing etc and holding people accountable.

(38,516 posts)I'm just impatient. The country is being surrendered to Putin.

(6,709 posts)But I think the country was surrendered to the oligarchs long ago (now with the Russian variety thrown in). Only question is if we can pry it out of their hands. Outrage over Putin, Rump, Kavanaugh, et alia can only help. Mueller's work may start the dominoes falling.

(10,129 posts)I'm wondering what consequences from Mueller's investigation will have any teeth.
After Kavanaugh weighs in on Gamble v US, Trump can pardon everyone and that will cover similar state crimes.
Kavanaugh should recuse himself from that decision but by the looks of things, the government is too corrupt for that to happen.

I really hope he has evidence to put that ugly turtle-faced dickhead into prison.

(32,086 posts)The results of the election are irrelevant. As long as he and his team, and the NY AG's office continue to to uncover evidence of criminal activities, they need to continue. This isn't just about Trump. Everyone involved needs to be held accountable, regardless of when they get caught.

(6,040 posts)but tRumpgate is much broader in scope.
I don't care how long it takes as long as the asshole and all his accomplices gets a heavy dose of justice.
