He wanted and asked for an investigation and was planning to fight the charges. Some Democratic Senators, led by Kirsten Gillibrand, asked him to resign and pressured most of the other Democratic Senators to also ask him to go, so he felt forced to go.
We have our own Democrats to thank for our best Senator leaving.

She thought if she leads on this issue it would help her. Show that she was non-partisan. Boy, was she mistaken.

If you know how the Senate works, it's a collaborative effort by the Senators. They sponsor and co-sponsor bills, work on committees, get feedback from each other, support each other's bills. That is the way it works, and the only way a Senator can do good for his state.

When most of the Democratic Senators jumped on the bandwagon for Franken to resign, AND the leader, Schumer, said he should resign, he was effectively kicked out.

And you know it. Let me guess...you're a supporter of one of the leads who started the "kick Franken out" campaign.

It's not forgotten, you know. We here follow events closely, so we know what happened. Someone can't get away with stating falsehoods and expect us not to know the facts.

that Franken is responsible for the Mueller investigation. His tough questioning of Sessions caused Sessions to recuse himself; enter Rosenstein; enter Mueller.

that led to the Mueller investigation, indirectly. And IMO also spelled his demise, because that made Franken a little too popular for some of the other Senators who had, shall we say, certain aspirations.

This came up shortly after he appeared on a late night talk show, and the host asked him if he was going to run for President. I'm sure that sent chills up the spine of a couple of his co-Senators. Franken had become too high profile, too popular.
