My cousins went to school there! What is happening in this country?? I'm in Northeastern New York and one of my friends from work - who happens to be black - has two daughters and one of them was called racist names while walking down the street, and she's lived here for her entire life. Since Trump assumed office we've reverted to a time that it took generations of progress to overcome. It's heartbreaking and I never thought I'd see this kind of hate here. I was in elementary school in the '60s, lived in a pretty diverse community. I never saw this kind of thing then, but we're seeing it here now.

it started with Obama's second election win. That's when I saw the shift in my own family!
The racists thought he was done and he wasn't and they were fed up. Sad isn't it?

I grew up in a fairly diverse community and no one ever said anything, so it never dawned on me. I went to school with pale kids, black kids, kids whose parents spoke a different language at home. My grandmother came from Poland, so I figured everybody had something that was different. And my other grandmother (born in 1900) told me once that she was criticized by a neighbor for not having prejudices. The woman said to my grandmother "One of your children is going to marry an Eskimo!" I guess that was the extremest minority that she could think of!

two of them joined the Tea Party and that was it.

I don't speak to my sister at all. She's a blond blued eyed racist and actually told me, she doesn't like black people. We have different fathers.

My brother and I are cordial and our father's parents came from Italy. I remember when he was just out of college and complained about affirmative action saying it was keeping him from getting a job. He listens to Rush limbaugh every day I think. I don't know. I haven't seen him in 6 yrs but the last time I saw him at his house, that's what he was listening to when I went over there. I asked him, How can you listen to that guy? He turned it off.

I only have one brother and I don't understand him, either. I don't think he's a bigot - we just weren't brought up that way, but he's also a Republican which I really don't get at this point. I also registered Republican when I turned 18. My parents were Republican, but they were also liberals, something that doesn't exist anymore. I hung in there for quite awhile since I live in a Republican area and a lot of local races are decided in the Republican primaries, but I finally changed my registration since I realized I wasn't voting for any of them anyway. I voted for the Democrat in my first presidential election and Jimmy Carter will always be my hero. I didn't know a thing about politics, I just knew that what he said spoke to me.

And I often thought that my Dad would never have voted for George Bush* - and I can't see him being able to stand Trump! As for my brother, I know he wasn't a fan of the Clintons, but I figured he'd have to make an exception this time around since Trump is so horrifically awful! I avoided coming out and asking him for the longest time - I've tried to reach out to him since our mother passed away suddenly seven years ago. But the subject finally came up - and it turns out he voted for Trump! I don't understand since everything he does and believes is just the opposite of everything we were brought up with. But my brother is both contrary and stubborn and I was sorry I asked. I actually felt physically sick over it - so I guess we all have family issues over this.

how different siblings can be when they come from good people/parents.

It is sickening how someone in your own family can vote against their own self interests and for a con man! I've been trying to get my niece to register to vote. Today is the last day in Indiana for them to register and I've sent her the link etc. Nothing. In fact, she said both parties are the same and they are all crooks last Monday when I spoke to her. I got a little loud and said, No they aren't and listed how they are different. I said, you want Marijuana legalized? Never going to happen with the republicans. you want legal abortions? Nope, not going to happen. I'm afraid I was a bit too passionate and lost her interest. She's 33 and it will matter to her but i have to admit, when I was her age, I felt like she did too. I just grew up and realized how important it was. Hugs.

Jimmy Carter was my first presidential vote too. He was in my home town in August building homes. I love that guy. I was very upset when he lost to Reagan.

I used to wonder how we could be so different, but then were treated differently. I was the eldest so my Dad put pressure on me, he seemed to leave my brother to my mother - he didn't have the same expectations. And also my brother has a Masters in political science, so there's no telling him anything. He inexplicably got it in Texas. So he always thinks he must know more about politics - and he watches FOX News which isn't news at all.

But I thought that Trump had to be too much for anybody. My family was always Republican, but my cousins that I'm closest to feel the same way that I do. I think my brother's candidate was Kasich who's an extremest in his own right, but he's nothing like Trump - so I had hope. So now I just don't bring it up.

And I know! Every vote counts! I have a friend who votes the same way I do and her daughter turns 18 this year - the day after this election day!

I have Jimmy Carter's autobiography, "A Full Life: Reflections at 90," and I recommend it highly. He sure has lived a full life - from his childhood in rural Georgia during the depression to his Navy career - I have it on audio disc (read by the author ) and I don't think he even got to his run for president till disc #5! I knew that I agreed with him on most things, but I was surprised how much I agreed with him even on current issues. But it came out before Trump came on the scene - not that he's been shy about saying publicly how he feels about Trump, though he's more polite than most.

They are true haters but phonies trying to stir up shit and cause problems...

They couldn't even draw the Nazi Haken Kreuz correctly....and the Star of David has 6 points, they did 5 which is the witchcraft symbol....

Oh yeah - and were they trying to do the symbol for the illuminati (which means they forgot the eye in the center) or did they mean to do the symbol for homosexuals (it should be inverted)....

One thing you can say about Trumpanzees is they are truly idiots....

KKK recruitment flyers are showing up in lawns in Northern Virginia as well as on Virginia's Northern Neck. The Neck is an area of si counties bounded by the Chesapeake Bay and the Potomac and Rappahannock Rivers.

In an interesting twist -- local Tea Party members have gone to one county sheriff and accused members of the local Indivisible group and Democratic Party of distributing the flyers as a "false flag" operation.

Probably students who think it is funny or cool to use racial slurs.

I grew up in a fairly affluent area with a mostly white student body, and had the unfortunate chance to see how sheltered kids who think it is cool to be racist act.

The real giveaways are the juvenile/sloppy lettering/symbols, and the fact that they crammed in every "rebellious" symbol that they could think of. Pentagram/666/etc.

Edit: my point was that it was not the "KKK", but some asshole kids that need to be found and punished.
