everything else on the list that we would put together, comes from winning the arguments on level ground and on the merits (where the GOP knows they can't compete).
As the Dirty Corporate Money comes OUT, progressive legislation goes IN, as the voters will DEMAND.

everything else will flow from that.
So that would be number one on my list.

Electing Hillary Clinton to the Speakership would also be acceptable, as even if we can't actually impeach ticket treason-weasel, the INTENT will be clear and it will scare the living hell out of the Weasels.

Don't possess a RIGHT to free speech, on the grounds that they don't actually qualify as Persons.

The 'originalist' position must be the above argument is correct, since the Constitution doesn't specifically state that they ARE. By that argument, it would take an amendment to INCLUDE them in that Right, the same as it did for those enslaved.

Let's see what this self-professed non-activist SC does with that.

If we can impeach Trump, he needs to be impeached regardless of the outcome. If he gets convicted and removed, then that's a huge bonus. Either way, "impeached" needs to be next to his name. This " we shouldn't impeach Trump because it will be bad for the country" that some in the media like to push on us is a crock of bullshit. Seeing that asshole impeached will automatically make every Democrat in this country feel better about themselves and the party.

You point to both as though they are the same thing.

Of course you're aware they're two wholly separate concepts, yes? We discuss many things which are not our focus. We also focus on many things simultaneously.

Which makes me wonder if simply discussing a thing forces you to lose your own focus on everything else, and that you're simply projecting that onto everyone around you...?

The Electoral College vote takes less then a day. With few exceptions, they vote the way their respective States voted. If the Electors voted in a way contrary to the popular votes of their states, then I could see why they should be investigated. But they didn't. They are basically just rubber stamps and vote however their states did. I'm not getting why you think someone would waste their time and money trying to bribe the EC members. Tue Oct 9, 2018, 09:45 AM

We need to get the Senate first. THEN if we do, we have to remember that even if the House impeaches Trump and Kavanawful, the Senate needs 67 votes to remover them from their positions, and there are not 67 Senators that will vote for either. I'm not saying we shouldn't do it anyway. It does send a powerful historical message. But we should not delude ourselves about the outcome, nor about Trump signing a minimum wage bill unless McTurtle says it's OK (hint: he won't), and, again, we do not have 67 Senators who will vote to override.

Trump won't sign much of anything sent to him by a Congress made up of 2 chambers with Democratic majorities.

What we should prepare for is two years of gridlock, which in any case will be better than what we have now. For THIS reason, I'm not against impeachment with no hope of success. If Congress is gridlocked and won't get anything useful done that Trump will sign, then they might as well do SOMETHING they can do, and articles of impeachment CAN be brought.

I had dinner last night with a former Congressman who served as a Democrat from WA-7 for over 25 years. He knows all about impeachment, and we did talk about it. It's a long drawn out process even if we do get to where the Articles can be delivered over to the Senate. It's not a vote that gets taken overnight. And even then--for sure, we CAN impeach. We will NOT be removing anyone from office that way, not with THIS Senate, even if we do win back control of the chamber by a seat or two.

Make it to the Senate where they fail and leave a fired up Republican Party who has unified to protect their people against a Democratic "petty witch hunt"

Worst case, impeachment doesn't make it out of the House leaving a bitter and divided Democratic Party going into the 2020 election

#3 would fail on veto, if nothing else, but have Democrats leading a cause that appeals to their base and many independents. Also it opens every Republican candidate who opposed the measure to a point of attack.
