That's one of the most common cause for not being registered. As you say, it's important to check your registration before the deadline. In Minnesota, we can register on election day. All we need is some sort of proof of residence in the precinct.

Maybe I'm a titch paranoid. My state has its own website that didn't require email, phone, etc.

I get too much junk mail and spam calls as it is.

Also, I wanted to know from my state instead of an online service.

The first link I opened when searching issued a "possible fake site" warning.

one of the first things I did was find the voter registration building and got registered at my new address and new polling place.
