N.Y. Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand campaigns for key Philly-area hopefuls

U.S. Sen Kirsten Gillibrand, who lacerated Republicans - and praised 'brave' women in the hours before U.S. Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh's confirmation, heads to the Philadelphia suburbs this afternoon to campaign for a quintet of women candidates.

The New York Democrat makes a 2 p.m. appearance in Ambler, Montgomery County. There she'll campaign alongside 4th Congressional District candidate Madeleine Dean; 12th District hopeful Maria Collett; 24th state Senate district candidate Linda Fields and state House candidates Liz Hanbidge, and Sara Johnson Rothman.

Gillibrand, who's been mentioned as a possible contender for the 2020 Democratic presidential nomination, lands in Pennsylvania, arrives in Pennsylvania the day after a GOP star hit the trail in the Keystone State.

On Thursday, U.S. House Majority Whip Steve Scalise, R-La., campaigned in Harrisburg with U.S. Rep. Scott Perry, who's running in central Pennsylvania's redrawn 10th District against Democrat George Scott.
