I am an active lifelong Dem, and like Avenatti and SO many others I have wanted the party to get back to being the tough fighters we used to be under FDR, Truman, and JFK.
You can't play nicey-nice and sing campfire songs with Traitor Don and his Cult and today's viscious vomit-inducing GOP. ENOUGH!
Where the hell has that that gotten us? Tell me. The R's control all levels and branches of the government across the country. Gee, how's that working out?
It is a FAILURE! We didn't ask for this fight, but if I have anything to say about, we are damn well going to win it.
I love that Avenatti doesn't take ANY shit from these GOP scumbags. Enough is enough!
Get on OFFENSE and STAY THERE! Be STRONG! Be CLEAR! Have some GUTS again!

(1,580 posts)And by the way, I have just this afternoon returned from another day of campaign work. I've been burning shoe leather like hell for 14 years for Dem candidates.
Just voting isn't enough. We need STRONG candidates, a STRONG message, and we need to get on offense and STAY there!

(14,750 posts)Agree or not, but aqvanatti pinned cohens ears back and forced the exposure of very real financial crimes. Maybe muehler knew already, and maybe he didn't, but now WE know.
He also brought a credible accuser forward in the kavanaugh hearings. That story isn't over yet. But it might be with anyone else.
So yeah, I like the guy. And I'll vote. And I'll do whatever I can to gotv where it counts.
And yeah, we can still appreciate him.

(14,750 posts)Were decidedly less fair than others.
Remember the history of Jim Crow laws? Black men at one point were only 3/5 of a white man, and woman couldn't vote at all until the 1900's. There were random "poll taxes", and "IQ tests". There were lynchings with blacks hung outside voting locations.
And it wasn't long ago that journalists were killed here in the good old us of a.
So lets not let those lessons have to be learned all over again. Get everyone you can to the polls. Make there 5% solution drown under a 10% response.

(9,865 posts)...do not scream about this to high heaven.
Do not demand investigations.
Do not hold press conferences on it.
Do not give speeches about it on the floor of Congress with charts and graphics.
They have the capacity to make this front page news but it's always a small story in the alternative media---a special on National Public Radio or something like that.
The stealing of elections (gerrymandering, supression, rejecting Native American voters and others, etc.) is one of the most dangerous things going on and I'm not sure "turning out the vote" is going to overcome it. This needed to be a huge story, month after month, year after year, until finally the MSM could not ignore it.

(1,201 posts)They back their lies up with tons of media money, while suppressing the vote or out right stealing the votes like with Trump. Yes I listen to the criticism but those critical forget repubs have been winning because they cheat. Their corporate buddies own the machines that tally and count the vote. It accounts for this so called "red shift", notice the discrepancies never go the dems way. Yes, now we also have to deal with deplorables who only care about power and not the country but if we went to paper ballots that could be checked and made voting easier dems would sweep the nation.

"It wasn't helpful because the story became about Avenatti," the Democratic senator said.
Avenatti, who headlined an Ohio fundraiser Friday and is considering running for president in 2020, said he wears that Democratic criticism with a "badge of honor."
"Many establishment Democrats are concerned because they see me as a threat," Avenatti said.

Immigration law is pretty specialized and I would think he might want to gather info from experienced people. This is very anecdotal and one persons point of view, but it has made me wary. This thread needs to disappear, it's pointless.
Jerry Nadler is a rather quiet unassuming Congressman, when Dems take control of Congress he is going to lay Trump's taxes on the table. In other words he is going to speak softly and carry a big stick.
Anthony Weiner was a popular, loud mouth in your face Congressman, but what did he accomplish? What Bills did he sponsor?
Believe me I'm not knocking any Democrats, those who speak softly and carry a big stick or those who speak loudly and carry a big stick. (14,311 posts)A law firm of Stormy Daniels' attorney Michael Avenatti was hit with a $10-million judgment Tuesday in U.S. Bankruptcy Court after he broke his promise to pay $2 million to a former colleague.
Judge Catherine Bauer of U.S. Bankruptcy Court in Santa Ana ordered Eagan Avenatti to pay the $10 million to Jason Frank, a lawyer who used to work at the Newport Beach firm. "At this point, that's what's appropriate," Bauer said at a brief hearing.
To settle his law firm's bankruptcy, Avenatti personally guaranteed in December that it would pay Frank $4.85 million. But he and Eagan Avenatti failed to pay the first $2 million installment that was due last week, triggering Tuesday's judgment.
The firm is also delinquent on $440,291 in back taxes, penalties and interest that Avenatti promised would be paid last week, Assistant U.S. Atty. Najah Shariff told the bankruptcy judge.
