Trump loved a painting of himself drinking Diet Coke with Abe Lincoln so much, he hung it up in the White House. Viewers spotted the painting during an episode of “60 Minutes” that aired Sunday night.

“The Republicans Club” by Missouri artist Andy Thomas shows Trump sitting around a table cracking a smile and drinking with former Republican presidents such as Abraham Lincoln, Richard Nixon and Theodore Roosevelt. The President learned of Thomas’ work — which is being compared to the famous “Dogs Playing Poker”* paintings by Cassius Marcellus Coolidge — after Republican Rep. Darrell Issa of California showed him a copy.

Thomas, who spoke to the Daily News on Monday, said he researched the Presidents’ drinking habits — thus, Lincoln is seen with water and Nixon with red wine.
Trump, meanwhile, avoids booze but reportedly drinks 12 cans of Diet Coke each day.

Trump’s smile was difficult to paint — as reported by Time — and Thomas noted he had to look at thousands of images. “Trump has that one thing where he sticks his chin up and smiles really big, and it’s great for a caricature but not necessarily flattering to him,” he told Time. “I had to find a photo where it looked like he’s actually heard something funny, so it looks like a genuine smile.”
