In Polling Places Around The Country Where Long Lines And Waits Happen.....

is there any reason why we couldn't have volunteer 'line waiters' to take a place in line and when they get near the front - use their cell phone to call the person that they were waiting for to come and vote?

A lot of people have jobs and have to get to work and don't have the luxury of waiting for hours to vote. If they had a 'line waiter' taking their place (someone that doesn't have the responsibility of work and can spend the time) it would make it easier on those that have a job and can't afford to spend the time waiting in line.

I know we have volunteers driving voters that have problems getting to polling places - so how about volunteer 'line waiters'.

Just a thought here. I'm not sure perhaps this happens already.

going negative right away. I'm sure there is a way of managing this to prevent fights.

Think about people standing in line for hours, then suddenly someone new steps up and takes the place of one of your volunteers. I don't think they would be happy.

They would then have to instruct the election judges.

I don't know. I just don't know. Maybe people would have to bring their own camp stools or something. That does not solve anything for the people who have to miss work.

near them that they are just holding a place for a person that has to work or is disabled and can't stand in a line for 3 hours. There is always a way to solve problems like you are making up. And the person holding the place in line - just steps out when the new person steps in. It's not like line cutting - it's a replacement.

the Dems have line waiters and show up a minute or two before in front of you. Nope
Better yet you are of the same party and wonder why you didn't have a waiter assigned to you huh? Person gets pissed off leaves doesn't vote or changes their vote out of spite

best to call the local election board to see what their policies allow. If they agree to it they could inform poll workers so the could handle disputes. Most areas allow early voting for cause if someone is really pressed for time they could try that option.
