Tonight, I smoked my first legal joint.
Is this any way to run a country?
You bet it is.

(27,835 posts)It's exactly the same feeling as with the thousands of "illegal" joints I've smoked over the years.
The only difference with it being legal here is a sudden yen for a maple-glazed donut, poutine, and a good hockey game.
dchill
(42,660 posts)a good hockey game, I'm glad I don't have access to poutine! Pot, however, I believe I could use.

I still wouldn't stand a chance. Never mind.

(43,847 posts)We stood in line that first day with college students and vets and grandmas (like I am now). It was a funny, giggly party. Nowadays its a terrifically nuanced, complex business.
And my joint pain is SO much better.

(115,048 posts)Some are better than others, I think?

(15,035 posts)Spouse used pot -laced caramel corn to get off the opioids the pain doctors prescribed for his arthritis and spondylosis. I got ahold of the highest CBD oil infused coconut oil mix, and used an "amish" caramel corn recipe I found on the Internets and used that one-to one instead of the butter in the recipe. 1 cup of popcorn per dose; he started out with four a day (one before bed) and within three months he didn't need it any more.
Making mini-muffins with Krustez lemon bread and brownie mixes are also good alternative. Use the oil instead of the cooking oil they call for, and each muffin will have enough for a good dose.
There's also an infused CBD cream for joint pain, which he still uses occasionally.
BTW, he doesn't need pot for pain management any more. He's on a maintenance level with a biologic that keeps him from getting worse, and he's lost weight with a good pool-based physical therapy routine that also helps. Of course, this will change as time goes on, as the damage is already done to his joints. So long as he has his medicinal card and it remains legal, he's covered when it gets worse.

(43,847 posts)The Leafly app and site are wonderful for breaking down strains into their relative contents and uses. I like Remedy, which is basically all CBD and Northern Lights, which is high CBD but has more of a kick. Ive got nasty inflammatory issues too and am always looking for something that I can be sharp on but is good for pain.

(115,048 posts)...I think it is a mix of Durban and Kush?
I will be looking for any stray seeds that might be in it.
It seems to help for about 4-6 hours.

(20,426 posts)Sounds like weed for everyone.
By comparison, I smoked one outside the Hard Rock Cafe in Cleveland before the Garbage concert tonight. i took a grandson who just turned 21.
I wish I could have smoked it inside like the good old days, but security would have thought it was a cigarette and pounced like a cat on a mouse. It's decrim in Ohio, which is better than nothing.
Enjoy, Nance!
On edit:
I see it only took the Mounties until an hour after midnight to ticket someone for smoking in their car:

(26 posts)I had so many things run through my mind when I read your post - I finally just stopped and smiled and thought "My how things have changed" - I was a new kid in town walking down the Strand in Hermosa Beach, California back in 78 coming from a town of 5000 people from SW Kansas when a gypsy kind of guy approached me with a form to fill out to become a member of NORML - I thought hmmm "Toto I have a feeling we're not in Kansas anymore" - Before it is all said and done I have full intentions to get my picture taken in front of one of these pot stores or weed stores or whatever they call them - And that will make for a good day in my life - I don't participate anymore but I sure appreciate those who do - "No stems no seeds that you don't need Acapulco Gold is bad a** weed" !!! Right on to you Nance - Enjoy !!!

I knew you were a good writer, now I know your inspiration. I do my best thinking after a smoke. I can't wait until they legalize it all over the world. It really helps my anxiety and sleep. I have used it for pain as well. Smoke 'em if you got 'em!

Hubby doesn't partake but he sees how my mind works when I do. He knows it helps me.
Nance, you are the reason I joined DU. I love your rants. I always have. I joined so I could give you a K&R to your posts.

(57,447 posts)I used to live in Vancouver, B.C. as a child. I had a Canadian version of a green card at the time. Wonder if it's still good. What's amazing is even though we only lived there a few years, when my mom retired here in the US, they started sending her a little retirement check from the Canadian version of Social Security. It was only about $33 a month, but then her Social Security check was only $700, so she was glad to have it. I love Canada in the summer, but I just can't take the cold the rest of the year.

(3,064 posts)In Texas. First offense simple possession was two to life.
Two seeds could get you that.
Harshest laws outside of Red China. Dallas cops would tear out your car's back seats looking for a roach.
Law loosened in 1972 and it's much more lenient now but far from legal.
So smoke a legal one for me, muchas gracias.

'Twould be nice to live in a place with this conversation -

"Yeah, running low on bud. Pick me up some... oh, and some Doritos too"
