A race is won when all the votes are counted and the state certifies the result.

A party wins a midterm election when more of its candidates win their races.

A party takes control of the House or the Senate when enough of its candidates win to give them a majority in one of those chambers.

A "wave" election occurs when one party so overwhelms the other in Congressional elections that the result is generally accepted of evidence of a true "sea change" in the political life of the nation.

All of the above start with winning "a race" and then another and then-------. And, none of it can be accurately forecast and none of it should ever be assumed a "done deal".

Run scared. Run as though your kid's lives were at stake. Run as if this was your last chance to save our birthright.

We need to be on guard for this, especially in senate races. They can prevent a dem from being seated for months without even trying.

If they pick the right state, they can pitch the choice to the gov to fill if the winner can't be certified.
