NASA photographed a near-perfect rectangular iceberg in Antarctica last week, which looked more like a smooth skating rink than a block of ice.
The iceberg's sharp angles and flat surface indicate that it probably recently calved from the ice shelf, NASA ICE said Wednesday on Twitter ... the iceberg can be seen floating among sea ice just off of the Larsen C ice shelf.
The unusual looking iceberg is called a tabular iceberg, and its photo was taken for NASAs Operation IceBridge, which documents Earth's polar ice to better understand connections between polar regions and the global climate system.
