30. We have an Adverb Patrol in our household.

The pet peeve is that some people use adjectives when they should use adverbs, as in:

"This hamburger is real good."

So, we tack on a lot of "ly"s.

and think the office should be a national institution. Our language needs protection. I recently checked usage of a pronoun in a sentence posted on a school bulletin board and discovered that basically, now, English is "descriptive not prescriptive" and that grammatically proper usage is not necessary as long as the correct meaning is received by the listener. It almost brings me to tears when I think of all that time I "wasted" in those required English classes.

And I mean ALL the time.

I can’t tell you how many times I type something and glance at it to see if it’s the word I want only to have it show up, yet within seconds my iPhone decides to use another word. It’s far more maddening than being a spelling Nazi!

But in this case the word is correct. Maxine states he has another thing coming.

However, this is one of those phrases that's been misused so commonly that "another THING" has become accepted. Think about it: "If you THINK...you have another THINK coming." Or, as Malaise points out, "another THOUGHT" also works, and more properly.

All Democrats should be shouting out NO to these newest tax scam cuts for the rich , and screaming they will destroy all Medicaid , Medicare, and Social Security to rob seniors of benefits they've paid for. Social Security has no connection to the deficit, which they like to confuse people with too. Why aren't all Democrats speaking out against this now? They should be. All seniors should voice their opinion by voting them all out of office .

said they would do in that they simply bought their own stock back while at the same time they fired thousands.

28. Query... if the Dems retake both the House and the Senate

can the Trump tax cuts be reversed and inverted into a massive tax raise to the rich on everything they own, from their Apples to their Zambonis. And make sure that there is no way for them to cheat on the taxes? Ending any potential loopholes, and anyone attempting to find another would be in prison for life for tampering with the tax laws.
