https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=view_post&forum=1002&pid=11308504I was very interested to read the info in the above post that this has been going on for 15 years. I wondered why the news doesn't report this. I Googled several questions, trying to find out how often this happens, but didn't get a good answer. Do any of you know more about the background of such caravans? And, if this is not unique, why is it suddenly getting reported?

(13,783 posts)... I couldn't find the exact answer to my question. That is, I couldn't find anything focussed on "caravans," groups of a large size. When I click on your link it just takes me to the home page. Could you tell me how to find the pie chart from the home page? Thanks much!

FWIW, the good ol' US of A had plenty its own caravans-- do a search on Westward Expansion. "Wagons Ho!" And don't forget the Dust Bowl caravans.
We also went to war with Mexico and Spain to get more territory to move to. Almost went to war with Canada, but someone remembered it's cold up there.
Oh, and remember we had a Chinese Exclusion Act in the 1880's. That apparently wasn't enough so we had an Asian Exclusion Act as part of the Immigration Act of 1923.
We've been at this stuff a long time.
