Just Voted in Very Red Putnam County, Tennessee

Steady but not overwhelming stream of 90% old voters. Wait to vote was approximately 15 minutes for me. I saw maybe three or four other voters younger than 40 in line.

Not sure if these anecdotes mean anything, but I heard two old men in line saying about how "that judge got voters fired up around here." In contrast, I helped another older gentleman carry a Bredesen/Dean sign and hold it on the busy main road next to the voting station until the city bus came to pick me up. Nice guy, who was surprisingly more optimistic than I was about the Tennessee midterm results (probably the only time I spoke with an older person who was more optimistic than I). Half of the people who noticed us on the road gave thumbs up or waved liked they agreed with us while the other half gave a thumbs down or shook their heads disapprovingly (about 12 people altogether in both groups).

Anyway, I'm glad I voted no matter what the final results will be. Tomorrow, it's back to campus to try and convince my fellow students to vote.

2. Shelby County is not very red, especially compared to the rest of Tennessee.

Shelby County (Memphis) is one of the least red counties in the state. Clinton won Shelby County in 2016 with a 62-35 margin.

You may live in a very red neighborhood in the county but as a whole, the county as a whole is blue, especially for Tennessee.

Thank you for voting!

I live in Putnam County, not Shelby County.

Thank you for the thanks, by the way!

Wife and I early voted yesterday, decked out in blue. By the by, we are more than likely, some of the 'old" people in line, lol. Waited about 10 minutes to vote among smiles and lots of blue clothing. I'm sure all blue wasn't intentional like ours. But still.
Thanks for your efforts in Putnam, and we will keep the good fight going in Sullivan!
I'm so hopeful that something historic is happening in this election, Americans speaking through the booth!

on Ss, Medicare and Medicaid cuts, he could win this. But it's all in time....we have 2 strong lines of attacks, healthcare and cutting benefits to pay for bigger yachts

My happy moment was to give the creep Martin Daniels (repug state rep) a thumbs down (from my car) in person as he and a group of teenage non voters waved signs at a busy intersection. To my joy, a big Suburban on the same roadway and concurrently with my thumbs down yelled, “are you doing anything to improve gun control?” The creep sheepishly yelled “I don’t think we need anymore gun control”. But he was not happy over this minuscule drive-by 1 second opposition “mob”.
I hope Bredesen, Hoyos, and other Dems sweep the vote here.

liked Obama. I said I loved him. This guy was about 75 years old and originally from Russia. Now get this, he says he doesn’t like Democrats because of all the name calling against Trump. Then he picks up the O’Reilly book about the Nazis and the SS and says could you believe ordinary people like butchers and bakers helped in the holocaust. The old guy was brainwashed and it’s all because of Fox and other republican media.

12. Great you voted! Me, too! One thing for sure: We can't win, if we don't vote.

I'm in TrumpLand. My vote was probably wasted. But I still voted! Because you never know, and one thing is for sure: we can't win, if we don't vote!
