Chick-fil-A worker fired for offending Asian customers

Chick-fil-A worker fired for offending Asian customers

A cashier at the Chick-fil-A restaurant in Irvine has been fired after she put offensive names mocking Asian customers on their receipts.

Rather than take the names of two Asian customers, she typed "Ching" and "Chong," which appeared, respectively, on the two customers' receipts, according to Kelvin Lee, a UC Irvine student and friend of the customers. He posted photos of the receipts on his Tumblr account.

Since then, the post has spread through the blogosphere, attracting negative attention to the fast-food chain, which has already garnered animus from some corners because of its openly Christian roots and connection to conservative stances.

Company officials say the incident doesn't reflect corporate views and stands in stark contrast to its ethos. It was "simply [a] case of immaturity, failed judgment and human error" on the part of one employee, said Don Perry, Chick-fil-A's vice president for public relations.

They have a lot of high school kids work for them. That doesn't excuse what they did, but it could make it into a learning experience if they're a kid. Maybe salvage positive something from it.

Why make employees even ASK for a name to "appear on the receipt"..

I was once asked for name address & phone# for a purchase of AAA batteries at Radio Shack.. I left & bought them elsewhere..

For decades fast food places have just circled an order number & called it out when the order was ready.

The employee did a dumb thing, but the company policy is even dumber in asking customers for their name.

They have been building a new store near me in Torrance CA. Never having been to one, I WAS going to try their product. Now after reading this story and the previous stories, they can keep their damn chicken. How stupid are they????

...towards gays (if what other posters are saying is true) would be a reason not to visit.

Unless of course what you're really saying is that you yourself have a problem with Asians. In which case a few choice words might be said about you.

Those racist remarks are always toward Asian people, even though many countries practice whaling, such as the US.

Some black people steal TVs in order to buy crack. My TV was stolen. Therefore, a black person stole my TV in order to buy crack.

Some football coaches molest children. A child in my town was molested. Therefore, a football coach molested the child in my town.

Some Hispanic women have 10 kids and are on welfare. There is a Hispanic woman who works at the local taco place. Therefore, she has 10 kids and is on welfare.

Some Jewish Democratic politicians like to send pictures of their genitals to women on the internet. I just got a picture of an uncircumsized black schlong in my inbox. Therefore, a Jewish Democratic politician sent this picture to me.

Some "Whale Wars" fans are racist against Asians. This woman is racist against Asians. Therefore, this woman must be a fan of "Whale Wars."

See what I did there?

have been on Whale Wars threads, so no digging was really required. Racism and Whale Wars just go hand-in-hand.

There may some exceptions on WWII threads, but I can't think of any right now.
