(36,924 posts)sense of humor would have inquired about your fall by asking:
"What'd you do that for?"
i don't know--maybe she wouldn't say it to you, but she said it to me often enough with enuf seriousness that it would give me pause and then make me laugh and stop hurting (even if just for a moment)
glad you managed to vote, sorry you got hurt, glad you're icing and elevating. take care.
My Mother asked me close to the same thing! It was more " what the hell is wrong with you?" LOL!
Trust me... I felt like a complete doofus. It's always embarrassing to bust your butt in public!
glad you got that vote in though

(155 posts)I voted for Beto on Thursday. After straight ticket voting I checked through all 14 pages of my ballot to make sure all the correct boxes were ticked. I left feeling relief that it was done.

(80 posts)I voted a straight Democratic ticket yesterday. It was a paper ballot, and I was happy to see that we still have those available in our county. Fortunately, I didn't have to sacrifice a limb to vote!
I hope that Beto will surprise a lot of Republicans and win this thing, bringing some other Democrats in on his coattails. He has done such a good job campaigning, and has set a standard that, in my opinion, other candidates should emulate. I live in a very small, red county, and I'm not used to having a candidate visit our county, have a town hall, and seek to earn my vote. I wish him great success, as he has done an admirable job this election season. I almost chuckled when I saw an opposition ad against him, using the most sinister photo they could find. I realized that they really don't have much to work with on Beto, as he just isn't very sinister looking.

(28,493 posts)How embarrassing and how painful.
Several years ago I tripped over my own two feet in my driveway and broke my arm. I was so concerned about my ankle, because I'd broken that in a similar fall several years earlier that I didn't realize the arm was broken at first. I did notice that it was VERY painful shifting the car as I drove to work (I drive a stick) and luckily I worked at a hospital and after the first half hour as the arm became more and more painful, I went to the ER and was diagnosed.
Hang in there, Texasgal!

(844 posts)Wish I could vote for Beto! Please stay off of your ankle for a few days. I learned the hard way that this is not something that you can walk off. Sounds like you are taking good care of yourself. Will be crossing all of my fingers and toes on election night for Beto and for so many others also.

This is one time I wish I lived in Texas. Go Beto. This country cant stand another six years of that sleezy snake oil salesman. Put him on fox where the rest of the political trash go.

TxGal, you did good!
Nothing to be embarrassed about, happens to the best of us. The hubby hangs on to me when we're walking because he knows i have a habit of not paying attention to what's right in front of me. My last major tumble was in front of the national cathedral in DC while trying to snap pictures on my phone a couple years ago. At the time i wasn't worried that my scraped hands and knee were bleeding, my jeans were torn and my sunglasses were broken. I was more occupied with checking to see if there were other people around who saw me keel over

(39,154 posts)It's so embarrassing to fall in front of other people. I took a tumble on the ice last year, and my first thought wasn't, "OMG, am I hurt?" Nope. It was, "OMG I hope nobody saw that."
I'm sorry you banged up your leg, but glad you got to vote. Take care!

(779 posts)And thankyou for your vote for Beto, I am very concerned at the stories about votes being flipped to Cruz, I hope someone is taking this on and telling everyone to check the vote after it is made.

(42,862 posts)Falling (and being alone when it happens) is one of my biggest fears. My *BRILLIANT* son purchased for me an inexpensive add-on box of some sort for our Alexa that turns Alexa into a voice-activated speakerphone. I can say "Alexa, call JOHN!" and she'll connect the call. If I can't get a neighbor, then I can tell Alexa to call 911. --- It's not a perfect solution for every possible situation, but it's just another layer of personal security and convenience.
