Even protected by the 1st amendment.
Why the fuck is Mitch McConnell or Ted Cruz entitled to a fancy dinner...
We need to turn the private lives of these bastards into hell

While not just vote them out office?

(748 posts). . . but your response to strikes me as something of a non sequitur. You don't perceive a distinction between "criticizing" an elected official and confronting them while he or she is out in public, eating dinner or whatnot, and seeking to make his or her life a "living hell"?
I suppose the question I would pose to the OP (and to you, I guess) is what are we trying to accomplish? To effectuate political change for the better, or to vent out spleens and make ourselves feel better? If our actions are ultimately directed at the latter, that strikes me as selfish, immature, and, as I said, unproductive.

(12,344 posts)And do you really think yelling at them in a restaurant is going to change their mind or anyone else's. At least public protests have a theoretical chance of working, but yelling at them in restaurants will just send to better restaurants.
And how did it feel when they did the same thing to Nancy Pelosi?

(31,261 posts)All protesting people eating does is give republicans a rallying issue. The meal protests are stupid and counterproductive.

(102,780 posts)are serving at our pleasure via ballot... just because they are in office they do not have carte blanche to enrich themselves rather than doing their jobs all while treating their employers like shit and continuously trying to take OUR CONSTITUTIONAL POWERS away from US.
Fuck 'em, kick 'em out and take their pensions from them too. (they actually should be prosecuted and jailed.)
And any time they are in public, it is their obligation to listen to us, if they refuse and/or hide from us... all the more reason to insit that they hear our voices whenever they do venture out into places where we can voice our objections. They don't seem to avail themselves to us very much, therefore, this is a right afforded to us in the 1st Amendment.

(988 posts)Im not for people protesting against people while they are having dinner or taking their kids to school.
However with that being said, people are VERY ANGRY at how the GOP is using racists themes, lying, stealing votes, purging votes, using Russians, etc, etc.
However I firmly believe that if the GOP wins the house and Senate...
its on the Dems. There has never been a better or more important time to vote than RIGHT NOW.

You know what they say about one person being able to make a difference. While it may be unlikely, an agitated and educated citizen just might have something relevant to impart to an elected official in public. I would very much prefer that people who confront elected officials would not yell but instead be civil while you are lambasting them.
Turn their private lives into hell? Nah.
