In 2009, the DHS wrote a report how the biggest domestic terror-threat are right-wing extremists... and the GOP howled in outrage, claiming that the report was somehow an attack on Iraq-war veterans, because the report mentioned that extremists might try to recruit veterans.

- "How dare you say that veterans are terrorists?"
- "But that's not what our report sa..."
- "HOW DARE YOU SAY THAT VETERANS ARE TERRORISTS!!!"

The report was withdrawn.

And the unit at the DHS that wrote it was gutted under pressure from the GOP.
