Fox & Friends host Brian Kilmeade has found a new way to whip up fear about the group of peopledubbed the migrant caravanmaking their way toward the U.S. from Central America: disease. What about diseases? Kilmeade asked Monday morning during a segment on the marchers who are making their way through southern Mexico. Theres a reason why you cant bring a kid to school unless hes inoculated. He went on to complain about the level of taxable income used for social programs, and said: Is it too much to say we just cant have countries, entire populations, come in here without being looked at as hard-hearted? To me its a practical way of having a nation that everyone looks up to and wants to be a part of. Thats part of the reason why Americas Americatheres a process. Migrants in the initial caravan, now estimated at 4,000 people, rested Sunday and reportedly plan to resume their journey to the U.S. on Monday.

Between this rhetoric and the wall... I wonder if this is what the far right actually wants... nobody in, and nobody out.

(49,288 posts)The flu shot, which I still say everybody out there should get, is about 30-percent effective, but it actually decreases spread around the household, it decreases severity, and its very smart to get it. Of the children that have died, 80 percent of them in the past hadnt gotten a flu shot, Siegel said.
At the very end of the segment, Siegel asked if the three Fox hosts Brian Kilmeade, Steve Doocy, and Ainsley Earhardt had gotten their flu shot. No, I have not gotten one, Kilmeade said.
Earhardt then revealed that Kilmeade refuses to get flu shots. Kilmeade confirmed that and dismissed flu shots as only 30 percent effective a point that Siegel had already addressed. When Siegel told Kilmeade he should get the flu shot to protect his children, Kilmeade said that he would not because his kids needed to build up their immunity.

I believe last time they tried to quarantine health care workers not based on science to prevent disease, but to create fear.

But she was adamant that black people were absolutely invfsted with diseases, and should be avoided. It was irrational and ignorant. When i hear this argument about this caravan, i hear it hrough the filter of my grandmother's ignorance, and it sickens me.
