and did a K & R, I just want to point out that the "biggest political assassination attempt in US history" probably goes to the band of misfits and losers assembled by John Wilkes Booth.

In addition to killing Lincoln, they savagely wounded Secretary of State Seward, and targeted Vice President Johnson and General Grant.

The conspirator assigned to kill Johnson chickened out. Grant was supposed to be with the Lincolns at Ford's Theater, but cancelled at the last minute.

This was an attempt by a white supremacist bigot to decapitate the government as his contribution to the fight to preserve slavery.

I just felt I needed to point that out.
