Blackburn says 'angry mob' interrupted rally in Tennessee with Lindsey Graham
By KARMA ALLEN Oct 29, 2018, 4:35 AM ET
Tennessee Rep. Marsha Blackburn said an "angry mob" of protesters interrupted her senatorial campaign rally on Sunday during a moment of silence for the victims of this weekend's mass shooting.
Security officers forcibly removed several people from Blackburn's "Get Out The Vote" rally with Sen. Lindsey Graham, R-S.C., on Sunday evening after several "appalling" and "despicable" disruptions, according to the 2018 Senate candidate's campaign.
Blackburn, the state's Republican nominee in the upcoming Senate race, said protesters threw punches and shouted in the midst of a moment of silence for the victims in Pittsburgh, where 11 Jewish worshipers were fatally shot Saturday.
She blamed the protests on her Democratic opponent, former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen, who rejected that assertion.

"Like Governor Bredesen said, it is time to turn down the partisan rhetoric and start acting as Americans and Tennesseans first and partisans second," according to a statement from the Bredesen campaign. "This is happening from both sides -- it's a shame that people disrupted Congresswoman Blackburn's event and it is a shame that Congresswoman Blackburn's campaign staffers have been proudly screaming at 37 of Governor Bredesen's events."

That is the prototype for angry political disruptions. Except no one called them mobs in those days. Seriously, where are the video clips? They should be on repeat loops at MSNBC.

(22,917 posts)7. Yes! Exactly
These clips and others like it need to be shown during every news cycle that mentions Republican complaints about "Democratic mobs". Sure looked like angry mobs to me, pretty intimidating at times. Those "mobs" were being celebrated in 2010 at patriotic grass roots expressions of legitimate discontent.
Was that last clip at the Congressman's home?

Protesters began chanting in the crowd while Blackburn was being introduced at the rally. Parts of the protest were captured on cell phone video and posted to Facebook. Justin Jones, who shot the first video and can be seen being handcuffed in the second video, was booked by police according to a member of the Nashville Metro Council.
