Steve Schmidt offers a chilling...and probably ACCURATE...take on this morning's Trump tweets

@BrendanNyhan

These tweets are, in effect, a demand to stop reporting critically on the President backed by the threat of violence. What would you say if you saw it in another country?

Steve Schmidt Retweeted Brendan Nyhan

He is saying the anger is justified and thus the violence is understandable. He is clear in his connection between the violence and criticism of him. What the next fanatic on the edge of action in the name of Trumpism will hear is justification. He will think, they had a chance

he still encourages it by calling the media the enemy of the people. Trump has turned into the enemy of the people as well as the planet. This PINO is a fake president. He is surrounded by enemies of the people like McConnell who is flooding the judiciary with partisans just like the Nazis did...right before our eyes during a congressional recess. Thr branches of government have become corrupted by these Trumpists.

I (and we in DU land and other places) don't respond well to threatened violence. As a matter of fact, it behooves us all to fight this hate speech and act even more. Perhaps why the gap in poll numbers give democratic candidates more of a lead over repug candidates as more and more Americans see this hate and rhetoric for what it truly is. Worth a thousand words and a million bucks, each depraved act that rump has encouraged via his hate filled speeches to his entourage.

And many on the left say the media is complicit with Trump (Fox, yes, obviously)

Often those in the media would say, "if the left and the right are unhappy with our reporting, then we are doing something right", or "we are doing our job".

It doesn't feel that way this time.

I have lived through many Presidents and never in my lifetime have I seen such a deranged man in our Whitehouse. Naturally there were some I liked better than others but they were all upstanding sane men. DJT is a lunatic and I think the powers that be better start putting their heads together to figure out how to get rid of all of them. They are not sane Republicans they are wannabe terrorists. In my opinion, I believe DJT is responsible for all the mass murders. He will get his some way, someday!! You don't go around spreading hate and vicious rhetoric without getting a pay back from LIFE!!

But now he's had a taste of power and it's consuming him. If he follows in the footsteps of the newly elected far right Brazilian President, Jair Bolsonaro and orders our troops to take action against the opposition, will the military follow his orders?

There is literally nothing in history to disprove that.

I can only hope that anyone on the receiving end of Trump's crap realizes the only option to having two more years of it...and, God help us all, another four after that...is to get off their asses and vote.

But yes, there is no shortage of people out there who are full of it, up to their eyeballs.
