to be frank, just plain outright selfishness. For example, I personally know a gun humper who would never miss voting in an election because he is afraid that if democrats take control they will reinstate the assault weapons ban. I don't see or recognize a silent racist tinge in this person at all, he just doesn't care what happens to others as long as he can keep his AR-15. He has a Masters Degree, hangs out with a very diverse group of people he calls friends. He doesn't care about racism, climate, abortion, LGBT rights, education, the cost of health care. He doesn't give the first thought to any of that. To him, life is all about his guns. He doesn't care if people he calls friends have pre-existing conditions in their families that would ruin them financially without affordable health care, he's still voting for Republicans, and then be the first to start a "go fund me page" for his "friend" with the diabetic child who can't afford the cost of having diabetes.

Trump doesn't need to invent a war on the border to get this guy to the polls. He's already gone and voted his straight Republican ticket, and I wouldn't place him in any kind of classification other than "selfish".
