Unions protest the presumptive Republican vice presidential nominee.
LAS VEGAS Paul Ryan was greeted at The Venetian resort and casino by hundreds of union protesters picketing his finance meeting with Sheldon Adelson and other top campaign donors.
The protesters, from the American Federation of Government Employees and the AFL-CIO...AFGE president John Gage, who was in Las Vegas for his union's convention, told reporters that they were there to demonstrate against Ryan's proposed cuts to the federal government and Medicare.
"Romney Hood, Ryan Hood, not in our neighborhood," he said.

Approximately 40 high-level donors gathered at what the campaign called a "finance event" featuring billionaire mega-donor Sheldon Adelson, who owns the casino. Donors dressed in suits were spotted leaving the event holding envelopes emblazoned with the Romney Victory logo, but would not talk to reporters.

(12,228 posts)A family member absolutely dedicated for voting for a a third party candidate because of strong policy disagreements(to put it mildly) is so enraged by the Ryan "choice" that he will now vote for Obama.
Even should Obama have no problem winning my Blue State I find myself with an irresistible urge to put one more vote as pressure on the stake through the GOP "heart" so well exposed and arrogantly represented by their ticket.
Even had he chosen Palin or Bachman I would have found this reaction totally unpredictable. It is because Ryan personifies the GOP policy, his life all the horrible models of what is wrong, menacing.
There is a lot more that could be said, but this one single emotion, this call to smack down is a pretty raw drive in a campaign that is otherwise predictable. Is this happening to all the base as they learn or recall Ryan and the Plan? Similarly what about the hold your nose GOP who are not total idiots. Doctrinaire Reaganism disappeared without explanation, like the Cold War and the sneaky substitute is merely a bolder madness, something worth destroying much more than arguing about.
And that "promise" to reveal their taxes AFTER they get elected? The biggest lie of the ROTFL so far in the campaign. That pledge is so obviously DOA as to strain the Big Lie theory to gut-busting ridicule.

(18,124 posts)I never got why there was enough anger, during the french revolution, to bring out the guillotines. I am beginning to understand. If so many of the one % weren't so self-centered and greedy, we would have a better world, I think.
