there is a slight trend for Beto. IF there's a surge in several places, he could eek out a win. He's showing momentum in a couple of polls.
Are people nuts to vote for Cruz AGAIN?

(825 posts)...and we have seen the Cruz signs in yards everywhere around here. There are some Beto signs (we have two) but the Cruz signs are about two to one.

(37,648 posts)and Democrats may not want to put out signs in a red area.
Just looking at the positives. Cruz is ahead in the polls, though. But like Michael Moore says...don't go by the polls, like in 2016. They're worthless. Whether they're good or bad polls...just a lot of people need to go vote.

(17,238 posts)that Cruz has! He's such a sniveling little asshole I just cannot imagine it.. but YES... they are out there.
It's depressing.

(23,630 posts)these little weenies the GOP run out there are seen in the eyes of their cult to be like the guy from Die Hard when the truth is they would probably crap their pants if a girl asked them to the prom in high school.

(69,490 posts)steal the vote??? I heard that the voting machines could flip votes if voters vote a straight Democratic ticket, switch over to Cruz and Republicans voting straight party there is no vote for Cruz.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)Personally, I've never trusted the straight party vote choice. I only did that once, I think. I feel more confidant clicking on each and every candidate box.

(22,417 posts)3 dems switched to pug
2 pugs not counted
Who wins?
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)3 dems vote straight ticket (illegally switched to pugs)
3 pubs vote straight ticket (illegally not counted to pugs)
So dems would vote....BUT it would shout out that the total number of people voting doesn't add up. So that is not logically done to any great degree. Voters sign in. There is a count of how many people voted.

Hustle is one App, but there are others.
The App becomes unusable after nine pm, so I'm finished for the night, after sending 1500 texts + in about three hours.
It makes me feel wonderful to be part of this big GOTV movement.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)Could I use an app on that? (I don't need a smartphone.)

(9,199 posts)Also laptops.
I think you'll enjoy helping this way.
BTW, your local or state party may have need of texters when an issue comes up between elections, so get in touch with them (after tomorrow) and tell them to keep you on file as someone who would be happy to text when needed.
Our state legislature will be trying to do all kinds of nefarious things starting in January, so I'm sure we'll be needed then.
Honeycombe8
(37,648 posts)Thanks so much. There's not a Dem Party presence in my immediate area, but I could still help texting & such around the state. There are pockets of Dems, many of whom don't vote I'm sure because we're outnumbered.
I'll get set up with that. Thanks.

(53,061 posts)The fact that Cruz trails Abbot by 7 points or more indicates that Cruz might be as low as 90% on GOP ballots

(53,061 posts)So we know there is some ticket splitting we just don't know how many GOP are voting Cruz.
In AZ we are guessing McSally only gets 88% of GOP while Sinema gets 95% of Dems
Dem_4_Life
(1,777 posts)There were a lot of republicans came in super excited to not only vote for Beto but to buy signs, shirts, bumper stickers and some even volunteered. I really feel there will be a lot of vote splitting in Beto's favor.

(60,027 posts)They would vote for Charles Manson as long as he was the Republican candidate, and they would turn their backs on Jesus Christ if he were running as a Democrat. These are people who watch nothing but Fox Noise and actually believe what they hear.

(37,648 posts)What you describe is exactly the way it is in such areas. People who have never lived in such an area have no idea of what it's like in TrumpLand. Totally devoid of facts and truth. Generally uneducated and arrogant and hostile. But even the educated ones are happy to go along with lies, for whatever reason.

(53,061 posts)And Cruz has never visited these areas in 10 years and they have met Be to.
There is a devistating ad running where a good ole boy says that Ted boasts about how many times he has been to every county in Iowa but has never done it in TX.
My boss is straight right winger but proudly has a picture of him and Bill Clinton in his office. Thinks Bill is a great guy because he shook his hand and got a picture

(60,027 posts)Bill Clinton IS a great guy, and not just because he shakes your hand and lets you take a picture with him.
Cruz? I wouldn't want to shake his if I got a month's salary for it:
