NEW: An amazing stat given to me by Davidson County Elections Administrator Jeff Roberts just now. Election Day vote totals across Nashville's 35 largest precincts have already surpassed the Election Day turnout at those precincts in the 2016 election. That's massive turnout.

(16,508 posts)so this is really good news. For perspective, take a look at the Trump v. Clinton results in 2016 for Tennessee as a whole and then broken out for Davidson County, which in Nashville and its surrounding metropolitan area:

(56,848 posts)was one of the three counties that Clinton won in Tennessee (out of 95) - she won it 60% to 34% with 6% to Johnson/Stein. 149,000 votes to 84,500 for Trump. Bredesen would need to improve on that margin as well as in Shelby County (home of Memphis) - Shelby went for Clinton by 209,000 to 116,000. Just about every other county in the state went bigly for Trump - Bredesen would need to cut into the margin in Hamilton as well (went for Trump 79,000 to 55,000), which is home to Chattanooga and Knox County (home to Knoxville), which went Trump 106,000 to 63,000.

(11,949 posts)Republicans went all in in 16. They got everybody on their side out. None left to find.
If total votes are now exceeding 16 I cant see where they found the extra voters.
And in 16 the Obama coalition did not show at the polls. Looks they might be this time.
