last nights winners are seated? We have a lame duck Congress now and approximately 3 months before the new Congress takes hold. What kind of funny business could we expect from the Repugs now?

1. Expect them to ram more reich wing judges to the federal courts.

2. No need for them to rush that now

They will have the Senate votes in the new congress.

5. They can do that for next 2 years.

They have a solid majority now in the Senate and the Dem House can do nothing regarding the court appointment process.

Its sickening to think our court system will be dominated by Trump appointed judges for decades to come.

3. the biggest fear is that they could repeal obamacare during this time.

mostly they've had a tough time getting a majority together given they don't have much of a majority in the senate and republicans are not as united as they usually are on policy matters. obamacare has become more popular and accepted, and repealing it has been less of a priority.

the main reason the republican party really wanted to repeal it was because of its taxes on the rich (their rhetoric about the mandate was, as usual, just a distraction) but the rich got what they wanted from the tax cut, so they're less motivated to repeal obamacare, especially given that it would hurt voters in red states/districts as well.

4. The new Congress starts on Jan. 3, so that's less than two months.

And according to the congressional calendar they're not in session for the entire Thanksgiving week and they adjourn for the holidays on December 14. So they will actually be in session for only four weeks before the new Congress is seated. That doesn't give them a whole lot of time to fuck things up, but I'm sure they'll try.
